Mahalla: In an arbitrary move, the administration of Misr Spinning and Weaving Company in Mahalla-al-Kubra fired three workers, Kareem, Kamal and Tareq, for allegedly being absent since April 6. It is well known that they didn't do this with their own free will but rather for being detained since that day. More, though the court returned a release order, the Minister of Interior kept them in Borg al Arab concentration camp. The most interesting thing in this story was that the company has already received a document from the Prosecutor's Office saying the three workers are under detention. To confirm this the Front has sent ultimatums to the company about the compulsory absence of the three workers..
Today the Front lawyers has been allowed to visit Borg al Arab concentration camp where they discovered the existence of Mohammad Saleh Marie, translator, who accompanied an American reporter called Games Pick. While the American was released after the American embassy exerted pressure, Marie, who had earlier a release order, was kept in detention as a criminal detainee. He told the Front lawyers of being beaten and tortured with electric current in Mahalla's state security. Furthermore, he was denied his right to attend his college test since he is a student at veterinarian faculty. On the other hand, there were 11 political prisoners captured: two from Bohira, three from Kafr al Sheikh, one from Mansoura, two from Alex and three from Mahalla. The Front lawyers discovered the existence of 24 detainees related to 6 April strike from Mahalla along with 43 people remanded into custody until further investigations. The 43 detainees are all from Mahalla.
New Cairo: New Cairo state security prosecutor's office has questioned Dr Sami Francis who has been arrested since April 8 in Mahalla al Kubra. Francis has denied the telephone tape records that were allegedly between him and the political activist George Issac. During interrogation, he admitted his relationship with Issac for being an old friend on one hand, and as a kefaya member on the other. Also, he said that he knew Fathi al Hinawi since he was a member in Tagammu party. Francis is to be appeared in prosecutor's office on the coming Tuesday May 13, 2008 to continue interrogations.
