Burning Farm Land in Sarando

Ahmed Al Dalil, a police informant working for Nawar's family, carried out an arson attack on a farm land belongs to a Sarando-based female farmer called Kawkab Abdel Mon'em Qabeel. At about 5pm Saturday, June 7, Sarando residents saw fire flames eating the one acre farm land of Qabeel. After extinguishing the fire, Al Bohira security investigations came to the scene and wrote its report in which Kawkab accused Al Dalil and Nawar family of setting fire to her property. To ease the situation, police investigators tried to make a deal for withdrawing the petition filed against Al Dalil. A customary session was held and a fund receipt was written against both parties (Kawkab and Al Dalil) to secure safety and security. Furthermore, Al Dalil has a black record in terms of filing fake reports against farmers for the benefit of Nawar family. Last week, he filed a report against Kawkab, whose land was burnt, accusing her of stealing his crop, not to mention a series of harassments against her. More and as part of his black record, he threatened another female farmer called Sabria al Gizawi to file fake reports against her, who in turn filed a complaint dated May 31, 2008. This volatile situation in Sarando comes ahead of the retrial of Sarando farmers to be held on 16 June 2008.
